The main steps in planning and managing a successful event include the following:
Plan a budget – You must consider all costs of the event including speaker’s fees and their associated travel and accommodation costs, venue cost, catering costs, advertising costs, and audio visual costs etc.
Next you must select a time and date - It is important you speak with your client and see what time of year is most suitable. If it is during the historically busy time of year, in the months from August to October, you need to be planning your event far in advance specifically in regards to the next point.
You must reserve a venue – Do plan in advance as popular venues book out years in advance. ASB can help you with this.
Market your event – You will need to work with your client closely. If it is an internal event, you must market through the client’s intranet and website.
If the event is a public event, you must look at the particular advertising avenues including associations within the relevant industry.
Organise all equipment and other logistics – This will involve working closely with a speakers bureau supplying the speakers and also the venue.
If you follow these steps your event management and planning will be a great success. Find out more about our corporate events planning
