Biography

Since his retirement as a Canterbury Bulldog in 2000, goal-kicking ace Daryl Halligan has been helping other kickers lift their performances.

The one-time NRL points scoring record holder (2,034 points) in recent years has been engaged by the New Zealand All Blacks and a number of NRL clubs as a goal-kicking coach.

Kiwi-born Halligan played rugby in New Zealand before launching his rugby league career in Australia with the North Sydney Bears and the Canterbury Bulldogs.

In his 230 games with the Bears and the Bulldogs, Halligan kicked 855 goals, four field goals and 80 tries. His success rate was a staggering 80 per cent. In all senior matches, including 29 appearances for the New Zealand Kiwis, former Kiwi international winger Halligan scored 2,250 points 84 tries, 908 goals and six field goals.

Since his retirement, he has achieved outstanding results as a goal-kicking coach. His clients have included the All Blacks, Canterbury Bulldogs, Newcastle Knights, Sydney Roosters, Melbourne Storm, Cronulla Sharks and Waikato Chiefs.

Kickers who have excelled under Halligan's coaching include Andrew Johns (Newcastle Knights), Hazem El Masri (Canterbury Bulldogs), Craig Fitzgibbon (Sydney Roosters), Brett Kimmorley (Cronulla Sharks), Matt Orford (Melbourne Storm) and All Blacks Andrew Mehrtens, Tony Brown, Carlos Spencer and Leon McDonald.
