Natalie Bassingthwaighte knew as soon as she stepped on stage as Tinkerbell, in her year 6 production of Peter Pan that this was the beginning of her life's' journey. She began studying her craft at 11 with Debbie Maciver in her home town of Wollongong.

She toured New South Wales in the Regional Performing Ensemble at 13 and loved it so much she decided to attend the Wollongong High School of The Performing Arts which she graduated in 1994. Whilst at school she was also a member of The Talent Development Project graduating the same year as the boys Human Nature. Locally she played Audrey in Little Shop Of Horrors, before studying fulltime at The Australian College Of Entertainment.

Her first professional engagement was a singer dancer at Australia's Wonderland, followed by two seasons as lead vocalist and stand up comic at Kaos Comedy Theatre restaurant. Natalie knew she was well on her way when she was chosen 6000 hopefuls as an original cast member of the Australian Tour of Rent, covering the fabulous Maureen and playing Marks Mum. She then directly ed the cast of Chicago, understudying Roxie and playing the role of June in both Australian and Asia.
