Ricky Stuart jumped to the top of rugby league's world coaching ladder in 2002 with his spectacular first-up success with the Sydney Roosters and then the World Club Challenge crown.

Throw in being voted Coach of the Year in the NSW Sports Awards in 2002 and it all added up to a tumultuous few months for the former dual international.

Stuart's trophy cabinet is now groaning the weight of numerous team awards, including three premierships as a player with the Canberra Raiders (1989, 1990 and 1994), the Jersey Flegg premiership with the Canterbury Bulldogs (2001) and, with the Sydney Roosters, the NRL premiership (2002), World Cup Challenge (2003) and Team of the Year in the NSW Sports Awards (2003).

Individual honours include several Test and State of Origin man-of-the-match awards, the Clive Churchill Medal as the best-and-fairest player in Canberra's 1990 grand final victory over Penrith and Dally M player of the year and Rothmans Medal winner in 1993.

The Roosters NRL victory over the New Zealand Warriors in 2002 broke a 27-year drought for the club and the 38-0 whitewash over St Helens in the World Club Challenge in the United Kingdom was the biggest winning margin in the history of the annual showdown.
