Biography

Rod Macqueen moves effortlessly through worlds of sport and business. He is recognised and respected for his unusual yet effective mix of skills. A lateral thinker and innovator, he has demonstrated throughout his life an ability to unite people to a common cause and create an environment to help them realise their potential to achieve maximum success.

Rod is the most successful coach in the history of the world's second biggest football code. During his time as Australian coach, the Wallabies won 34 of their 43 matches for an astonishing 81 percent winning ratio.

Macqueen's achievements were mainly a result of his forward thinking and willingness to change in a game that had long been dogged by stubbornness and inflexibility.

His fresh ideas and willingness to think outside the conventional ideals of rugby were first introduced at the ACT Brumbies in 1996 before he became the Australian Coach at the end of 1997.

Out of all the success, Macqueen says "winning the World Cup would have to be the pinnacle, we worked very hard towards that over a two year period".

Prior to his involvement with the Wallabies, Rod took over part of the family business and transformed it into a multimillion dollar point-of-sale and merchandising company with a long list of multinational clients. He is now Non-Executive Chairman of his own company, Advantage Line, and holds executive positions in several major corporations.
