His nineteen cookbooks have sold over one million fifty thousand copies and several have won international prizes and are sold overseas.

Gabriel is most recognised for his television work. He was the first qualified chef to present cooking on a prime-time lifestyle show in Australia and has presented several shows, including 'The Good Food Show' on ABC, 'Fun in the Kitchen' on Channel 7 and 'What's Cooking?' on Channel 9, for which he was nominated for a Logie. He worked alongside Bert Newton on 'Good Morning Australia' for 12 years and now produces and presents 'Taste Le Tour with Gabriel Gate on SBS during the Tour de France bicycle race.

Gabriel has been a guest chef on ABC Radio 774, broadcasting on food and cooking for over
20 years.

He was born in France in the Loire Valley and trained as a chef in some of the finest French restaurants before meeting Angie, his Australian wife, and moving to Australia in the late seventies.

Gabriel freelances as a chef, writer and presenter and is in demand all around the country.
