Barb Clemes

One of Canada's Premier Climbers
Fear in climbing comes in many forms... fear of failure, fear of what your friends might think, fear of pain and death - fear can rule your whole life. You must overcome those fears, or deal with the consequences, but dealing with fear is what's important.
Barb Clemes's adventures span two decades and she continues to push the perceived limits of herself and her peers. As one of Canada' s top all-round climbers she was:
a summiting member of the first Canadian women's team to climb North America's highest peak, Mt. McKinley/Denali in Alaska (1982)
an ESPN X GAMES ice climbing finalist - representing Canada (1998)
a competing member of Canada' s National Sport Climbing team (rock Climbing) (1989-1992)
the first Canadian woman to climb the difficult rock grade of 5.12 (1987)
has many first all-female ascents of classic, Canadian waterfall ice (1987 to present)
