Dr. Sohail Inayatullah

Business, Future, Globalisation, Health, Social Issues, Dr. Sohail InayatullahProfessor Sohail Inayatullah is a political scientist/futurist at the Graduate Institute of Futures Studies, Tamkang University, Taiwan; the Centre of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism, Macquarie University, Sydney; and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the University of the Sunshine Coast, Sippy Downs. He also co-teaches an annual course titled, "Futures thinking and strategy development" at Mt Eliza Executive Education, Melbourne Business School. In 1999 he held the Unesco Chair at the University of Trier, Germany and the David Sutton Fellowship with the International Management Centres. He is one of 2010 Laurel award winners for all time best futurists as voted by the Foresight network, an association of 2750 foresight professionals. He received his doctorate from the University of Hawaii in 1990. In March 2011, he received an honorary doctorate from the Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang.

In the past year, among other groups, he has addressed or conducted foresight workshops for the Pearl Fishers International Policing Executive Program (sponsored by the Australia Federal Police, Dutch Police, Europol and other agencies), the Victorian Government, Department of Justice; the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia; Lifeline; The Victoria Leadership Forum; the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (workshops in Vietnam, Indonesia and Canberra, Australia); Organization of Islamic Conference, Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan; Australian Federal Police, Virtual Global Taskforce for Child Safety on the Internet, Sydney; The Interdepartmental Accounting Group, Gold Coast; the Gold Coast City Council Surfers Paradise Vision 2040 Project; the Institute for Safety, Compensation and Research Recovery, Melbourne; the Victoria Healthcare Association, Melbourne; the Executive Challenge Academy, Brisbane; Suncorp Bank, Brisbane; The Australian Government National Mineral Visions 2040, Brisbane; Workforce Council, Brisbane; the Canadian Police College, Ottawa; Health Canada, Ottawa; Fore-Can: Foresight for Canadian Animal Health, Ottawa; Government of Canada, Policy Research Institute, Ottawa; and, the Dutch Police Institute, the Hague.

Professor Inayatullah has authored/edited thirty books (with titles such as Questioning the Future; the University in Transformation; Youth Futures; Macrohistory and Macrohistorians; Alternative Educational Futures), journal special issues and cdroms and over 350 journal articles and book chapters as well as contributed to the Oxford Encyclopedia of Peace, the Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy, The Macmillan Encyclopedia of the Future and was the Unesco Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems.
