Professor Di Fleming

Di Fleming is a professional educator, lateral-thinking leader and learner. She has steered lab 3000's evolution its origins as the Victorian Government's design agenda fulcrum and the State's first Centre of Excellence in Digital Design. Lab.3000 has since become a hub for the intellectual and creative talents that will continue to develop Victoria's design industry underpinning an innovation economy through digital tools and applications.

Prior to her appointment at lab.3000, Di Fleming was CEO of Digital Harbour Holdings Pty Ltd and Principal of Kilvington Girls' Grammar both reflecting her outstanding entrepreneurial, management and leadership skills in strategic management of innovation and the development of a digital schooling.

As Principal of Kilvington Girls' Grammar (1993 - 2001), Di Fleming was the first educator to be acclaimed Winner of the 1998 - 1999 Telstra Victorian Businesswoman of the Year Award and the National Telstra/AusIndustry Award.

Di Fleming is a Consultant and Director of Accelerated Knowledge Technologies Pty Ltd; a company dedicated to the strategic management of innovation. AKT have recently published: Generating Genius: creating a culture of creativity. Di Fleming was also appointed Associate Professor, Principal Research Fellow in the Department of Learning and Educational Development at The University of Melbourne 2001 - 2003.

In 2001 Di Fleming was featured in the Federation Celebration Exhibition Ordinary Women, Extraordinary Lives a chronology of significant woman across the previous one hundred years held at the State Museum, Victoria.

Di Fleming began her career as an educator and a director of Fleming Flight Services, a most successful small business, enhanced by government investment, which she and her late husband were recipients as young entrepreneurs. This start-up changed the course of their young lives at the age of 25.

Di Fleming believes that mentoring is part of professional responsibility - to prepare young people and pass the baton on. Since 1976 she has given over two hundred keynote presentations, workshops, university lectures and after-dinner addresses for both public and private sector organisations throughout Australia, Europe, the United States of America, Canada, China, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, New Zealand and Japan.

Di Fleming believes that the strength of all organisations lies in "finding the extraordinary in the ordinary" by creating a culture where people can improvise and innovate for both personal and organisational advantage.
