Francis Galbally

Francis Galbally was born in Melbourne Australia, where he currently lives. He comes a family of lawyers.Francis practised law as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Courts of New South Wales, Victoria and the High Court of Australia. He was a partner in Galbally and O'Bryan and specialised in commercial law. He has undertaken senior lecturing roles at both Melbourne and Sydney Institutes of Technology.

Francis pioneered the cases against the leading Australian Banks on behalf of Borrowers who had borrowed funds in foreign currencies. The foreign currency cases have become know as a watershed in Australian legal history relating to the liability of bankers to customers in relation to financial advice provided at the time of taking out borrowings. In the early 1990's in the wake of the deep recession Francis acted for investors in some of the larger high profile corporate collapses: Viz, Pyramid Building Society, Estate Mortgage and the Austwide Trusts.

Francis has been a frequent commentator on topical public issues over the years. Francis left the law in 1994 to pursue a career in business. He has been a director of a number of public companies mainly involved in the property development, construction and hospitality industries. He is currently CEO of Senetas Corporation Ltd an IT services business specialising in data management, enterprise management and e-business.
