Ryan Bayley

Olympic, Commonwealth and Australian Cycling Champion Ryan Bayley is one of Australia’s cycling sensations. One of the great success stories of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games was Ryan’s blistering performance on the track to win two gold medals for Australia. The young Aussie cyclist clinched gold in the Sprint and Keirin events to become the first Western Australian Olympic gold medallist since 1968.

The 24 year old, who loves junk food and fast cars, now owns the title of the world’s fastest man on a bicycle and was awarded the AIS Athlete of the Year and Australian Cyclist of the Year in 2004. He was also nominated for the 2004 Don Award and Australian Male Athlete of the Year. Ryan continued his success in Melbourne at the recent 2006 Commonwealth Games, winning Gold in the Men’s Keirin and successfully defending his title in the Men’s Sprint.

The former junior BMX and motocross champion is known for his easy going and likeable personality. He is energetic, extremely passionate and has a good sense of humour. Ryan is determined to continue his meteoric rise in the sport of track cycling and looks forward to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
