Maree Bourke-Calliss

In 1994, at the age of 32, Maree suffered a massive brain stem stroke as the result of a sporting accident. Maree, a quadriplegic who cannot speak, is, however, a unique and outstanding motivational "speaker" who leaves her audiences feeling inspired, moved, touched and... often... changed. She has recently designed and managed the construction of her own home which includes a creative landscaping component and a hydrotherapy pool in the lounge! She manages a small team of carers, is a patron of the Whyalla Special Olympics organisation and has a keen interest in the stock market, the Collingwood football club and dog obedience classes.

In The Blink of an Eye Want to be absolutely inspired? Feeling a bit jaded and want to hear about the achievements of one indomitable human spirit? Need to be reminded how fantastic life really is? Maree Bourke-Calliss is a shining example of an outstanding human being who has achieved against the odds with simply the movement of her eyes. Just imagine if you could only move your eyes? Would you fight on? Let Maree, assisted by Hilary Henshaw, paint a picture of one person's journey of survival and determination to live a powerful and inspiring life. This unique presentation will leave you feeling blessed, inspired and privileged to be alive.
