Angela Ayers

Angela Ayers is an icon in the entertainment world throughout Australia and New Zealand.

She became the golden girl of New Zealand television in the early 1970's through her regular appearances with Peter Sinclair and Craig Scott in the hit musical entertainment shows "Happen Inn" and "Sing".

Such was her popularity that in 1973 Angela was voted "New Zealand Queen of Television" and "Most Popular Female Artist".

By her early 20's she had two hit records and became a household name.

In a career of many highlights, Angela rates one of the most memorable as being given the honour of performing the New Zealand national anthem at the Bledisloe Cup match played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to a record live rugby union crowd of 100,000 (a viewing audience of 1 billion). In a letter of thanks, Producer Kerrie Hayes said "Your stirring rendition had them on their feet for the duration".
