Backyard Blitz’s builder Scott Cam is a qualified carpenter who did a three-year apprenticeship with his brother’s business.

As a working builder Scott can’t believe what the Backyard Blitz team achieves in just two days. He’s enjoying the frenetic excitement that television brings and loves seeing the look of disbelief on the faces of the owners at the end of an amazing weekend. Scott joined Backyard Blitz when it premiered in 2000 and last year was also a team member of Nine’s hugely successful Renovation Rescue specials which brought together the stars of Australia’s favourite lifestyle shows as they offered a helping hand to someone deserving of a good turn.

His love and appreciation of the way of life in outback Australia has inspired Scott’s support of the Royal Flying Doctor Service. He had his own brush with the service while working in a remote part of Western Australia – a bad cut that could have required microsurgery and a flight to a major hospital was fixed up locally by the RFDS. Each year Scott takes part in a 5000km fundraising drive for the RFDS through the outback, driving his work vehicle as part of a team that includes a 1962 Chevy Impala. Scott enjoys camping and fishing and on spare weekends manages to escape with his family to their farm at Mudgee in NSW where they have plans to establish a vineyard.
