David Ellyard

David Ellyard has a clear and compelling understanding of how new ideas and innovative technology are transforming our present lives and our common future. This comes from a life deeply involved in science, technology and innovation; as a researcher (including a year in Antarctica), teacher, radio and TV broadcaster, successful author and Government policy adviser.

David helped build public understanding of science and technology through the pioneering programs 'Toward 2000' and 'Quantum' on ABCTV. Later he managed the NSW Innovation Council which advised the Government on growing smart businesses in a knowledge based economy.

A strong communicator in person and through the written word, David presents powerfully and provocatively on a diverse range of topics; why innovation is the key to success in business, how technology is shaping the way we will live and work tomorrow, what we all should understand about both the promise and the pitfalls of science.

David recently won the Eureka Awards Book Prize from Reed New Holland for 'Who Found What When', a history of scientific ideas published in 2005.
