Drawing on his many years of experience working for the Canadian National Parks Service, Bob conveys a great appreciation and understanding of Canadian Rockies history, in an informative and entertaining manner. A noted author, historian and tourism consultant, Bob has written seven books on life in the Canadian Rockies as well as two commissioned corporate histories. He is a respected film-maker and playwright who has addressed hundreds of conferences and gatherings across North America on the way people perceive where they live and the places they visit.

Publications written by Robert Sandford include: The Book of Banff, The Columbia Icefields, Canadian Summits, and A Mountain Life. He has produced more than 125 audio-visual programs and videos, which interpret the human and natural history of people and places as diverse as the Galapagos Islands, Nepal Himalaya, Beluga Whales of the High Arctic, and The Life and Work of (artist) Walter Phillips. Bob's 24 minute film on summer in the Canadian Rockies, entitled "Time in your Hands", won the Grand Prize for Best Travel Video in the Pacific Asia Tourism Association's competition with entries drawn 36 countries. In addition, he has developed employee orientation programs for a number of major organizations which include Canadian Pacific Hotels & Resorts, Brewster Transportation and Banff National Park.

Bob is 'Historian in Residence' for all Canadian Pacific Mountain Resort Properties, including the Banff Springs Hotel, Chateau Lake Louise, Jasper Park Lodge, and the Lodge at Kananaskis.
