Biography

Dr Stephen Juan, Australia's "Wizard of Odds", is a man of wideranging interests. Scientist, educator and author, Dr Juan is an anthropologist by training and one of Australia's best-known scientific communicators. Lively, humorous, and popular, Dr Juan defies the stereotype of the dull, pompous academic. He appears regularly on radio, TV, and in the press covering any and all topics having to do with being a human being.

Dr Juan holds BA, MA, and PhD degrees the University of California at Berkeley and since 1978, has taught in the Faculty of Education at the University of Sydney.

Anthropology, psychology, biology, history, sociology, medecine, and many other fields have formed the basis of several of Dr Juan's books. The Odd Body 2 is Dr Juan's seventh book and the third in "the Odd Books Series", published by HarperCollins. The first two are The Odd Body, The Odd Body 2, The Odd Brain and the newly released The Odd Sex.

Dr Juan has been honoured in Australia and overseas for his writing and other public education work. The topics of his talks are both fascinating and entertaining.
