Biography

Greg Khan expected his domestic flight Melbourne to Launceston to be event free as normal. Yet ten minutes into the flight he was being attacked by a determined would be hijacker armed with wooden stakes intent on crashing the aircraft.

Greg, the purser on the Qantas flight bought down the attacker in a football tackle and assisted by passengers and crew, subdued and secured him. The attack, one of the worst in Australian aviation history, happened shortly after the Qantas flight took off Melbourne for Launceston in the island state of Tasmania.

During the drama Greg was stabbed in the head several times, losing a large amount of blood, but throughout the ordeal continued in command of the cabin issuing orders.

Greg, one of Australia's new breed of heroes, talks of the importance that leadership and teamwork played in successfully overcoming what could have been one of Australia's major aviation disasters.
