Biography
Michael Voss is one of the all-time greats of AFL football. He retired in 2006 as a triple premiership captain (one of only six in the history of the AFL), a dual All-Australian captain, a Brownlow Medallist and 10-year club captain.
His career began with an under-17 representative match for his home state of Queensland in 1992. The following week, Voss debuted for the Brisbane Bears, making him the youngest ever player to play a senior game for the club.
During his career with the club, Voss captained the Brisbane Lions in four consecutive AFL Grand Finals, yielding three premierships.
Voss joined the Australian Football team in 2006 and played in the International Rules Series against Ireland, in Galway and Dublin.
Following his retirement from professional sport, Voss joined the Network 10 commentary team in 2007 and was also a Sports Anchor on Network Ten's 5pm weekday news in Brisbane. He is also a columnist with the Sunday Age and does occasional sports commentary with 3AW.
