Ahmed Kelly has overcome many obstacles in his life to become a three-time Paralympian.

Born in Baghdad with significant disabilities in all four limbs, Australian Humanitarian Moira Kelly and her charity brought Ahmed and his brother Emmanuel to Australia for medical procedure. After undergoing major surgical procedure to remove the deformed sections of his lower legs, Ahmed learned to walk with the use of prosthesis, and before long, he began to run. Ahmed quickly developed a strong passion for sports.

In 2008 Ahmed started training for swimming, and since then has been able to achieve several sporting goals. Including winning silver at the recent Tokyo Games, claim back-to-back 100m breaststroke victories at the 2010 & 2011 Australian Swimming Championships. Both wins were in a world record time.

Outside of his busy swimming commitments, Ahmed has completed his university degree in Bachelor of Arts at La Trobe University. Ahmed is now training towards the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games…
