Brendan Moylan

Australian long drive golf champion.

Profile

Brendan Moylan has been playing golf since he was 13 and has always enjoyed the level of skill required to play the game well. As a big teenager, hitting the ball long was something that came naturally to Brendan. Winning various comps over the years, he got down to a 5 handicap before it crept up again due to other life factors getting in the way.

Previous experience

Wins: In 2006 Brendan was made aware of the sport known as Long Drive Golf. He was very interested by it and started training straight away. That same year he competed in four events, all with top ten results and even a third place. At the Australian Finals that year Brendan missed out on winning by only 1.1m but was still extremely pleased to finish in second place.

Brendan then went on to hit the longest drives in competition in 2007 (384m) and in 2009 (351m).

At the start of 2010, Brendan made a decision to dedicate more quality time and effort to long drive. It paid off as he started to peak by the end of the year, and ended up winning that year’s Re/Max Australian Long Drive Finals. That kicked off what some would say was the start of his career. Going on to win four events and another Australian final in 2011, Brendan won two events and placed third at the 2012 finals. He also hit the longest drive of the year at 369m.

Not one to be held back, Brendan put in lots of work leading up to the 2014 Australian titles, even getting back together with his old coach from 15 years ago Dale Walsh. It all paid off and Brendan won his third Australian Long Drive Title.
