Profile

Marianne Broadbent is a Managing Partner of NGS Global, based in Australia. She has been working in the leadership, management and strategy areas for over 20 years, with a particular emphasis on working with organisations to shape and develop their strategic, executive and team capabilities. She has practical and pragmatic insights into what makes executives effective, every day, through her work at senior levels of business and government, identifying and nurturing high calibre executive leaders and their teams. She was previously Senior Partner in EWK International, a business whose partners became Founding Partners of NGS Global.

She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Library and Information Association and serves on a number of Boards.

Previous experience

Executive: Dr Broadbent’s background includes both global business executive roles and top level Business School leadership. She previously served in two global roles at Gartner Inc., the world’s leading information technology advisory services firm. She was Senior Vice President for the New Product Development, and a key executive in the turnaround of the performance of Gartner’s Research business. Earlier, she was Group Vice President for Gartner’s CIO Executive Programs, where she led the global team responsible for developing practice-based advice and research for executives, and was part of the team that sustained growth of 25-50 percent per year for five years.

Author: Dr Broadbent has been Associate Dean and Chair of Management at Melbourne Business School (MBS), University of Melbourne and a visiting researcher at Boston University’s School of Management. She has completed groundbreaking, industry-focused research on governance with faculty at MIT’s Sloan School of Management. Her work has been widely published; she is the author of two Harvard Business School Press best sellers, and a sought-after speaker and facilitator. She was a finalist in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards, is a judge for The Australian Innovation Awards and co-founded Social Venture Partners Melbourne.

Education: Dr. Broadbent holds a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma of Education from the University of Sydney, a Master of Arts from Macquarie University, an A.Mus.A. (AMEB) and a PhD from Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne.
