Regarded as one of the toughest forwards in the game’s history, Gorden Tallis has been an integral member of the Fox Sports NRL team since 2006, in particular as an on-field analyst for the Monday Night Football studio team.
Current work
Aside from his role at Fox Sports, Gorden is a columnist for Brisbane’s Courier Mail newspaper and hosts a nightly sports radio show through regional Queensland.
Previous experience
Beginnings: One of Australia’s most inspirational indigenous sports stars, Townsville-born Tallis joined the Brisbane Broncos in 1997 after a four-year stint with St George.
Finals: Given the moniker ‘The Raging Bull’ because of his fearless, no-holds-barred style of play, Gorden Tallis won three Premierships with the Broncos and forged a reputation as the most feared forward in the competition. His dominant display in the Broncos’ 1998 NRL Grand Final victory over the Bulldogs saw him awarded the Clive Churchill Medal for the best player on ground.
Captain: A Queensland legend, Tallis wore the Maroon jersey with distinction on 20 occasions in State of Origin, captaining the side from 1998 to 2001. He captained the Kangaroos in 2002 and finished with 11 tests for Australia.
Retirement: After 12 years of terrorising his opposition in the NRL, he retired at the end of the 2004 season, having played 160 matches with the Broncos.
