Profile

Richard is Futurist-in-Residence at the Entrepreneurship Centre at the Judge Business School at Cambridge University.

Prior to this, he worked with the Technology Foresight Practice at Imperial College London.

Richard has written seven books and contributed to several others. Future Files (2007) is a brief history of the next 50-years, while Digital Vs. Human (2016), explores the areas of artificial intelligence, robotics, and the internet from a deeply human perspective. His other books include Future Vision (2012), Future Minds (2010), The Future: 50 Ideas You Really Ought to Know (2012), A Place in Mind (scheduled for late 2022) and You are Not Busy (2023+).

He has also contributed chapters to Future Frontiers: Education in an AI World (2017), After Shock (2020), and The Love Makers (2021). Despite this, he is probably best known for his future roadmaps and visualisations.

Richard has worked with, amongst others, Westfield, CBA, NAB, Sydney Opera House, Public Libraries NSW, McDonald’s, IBM, Tourism SA, Coca-Cola, and Lego.
