Australia’s answer to a female Anthony Bourdain, she’s known for her enthusiasm for food, culture and eating curiously. Her #EatCuriously movement encourages people to order outside their comfort zone in order to better understand others and themselves.

Raised culturally Jewish in multicultural Melbourne, Sofia appreciates the importance of identity and the beauty of diversity. She’s spent her life exploring culture through the lens of food, but it wasn’t until she found herself staring into the unblinking eyes of a decapitated goat at Djema El Fna night market in Morocco that she knew she wanted to be a journalist.

Sofia has spent more than a decade writing and reviewing for publications such as Lonely Planet, Good Food, SBS Food, Domain Review, National Geographic Traveller, The Guardian, delicious., Get Lost, Broadsheet, in-flight magazines and more. In 2020 she launched Seasoned Traveller, a website dedicated to sharing lesser-known food stories from around the world.

Her sense of adventure, contagious enthusiasm and natural on-screen style has led to video campaigns with local and international brands such as Visit Victoria, Intrepid Travel, Lonely Planet and World Nomads. Bolstered by a loyal social media following, Sofia promotes tourism through food, MCs events, moderates panels, judges national food competitions and shares her expertise on television and radio.

A passionate communicator and researcher, Sofia’s raison d’être is celebrating culture through food, carving out a more delicious and tolerant world in the process.
