Dr Tom Crago is an entrepreneur, author, and artist and the owner and CEO of globally renowned video game developer Tantalus. Based in Melbourne, Tantalus has more than fifty acclaimed titles to its credit, including several million-unit-sellers.

Current work

Tom mixes with the video game world’s biggest players and has worked with the likes of Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. He is a past President of the Game Developers’ Association of Australia and served on the Australian Federal Innovation Minister’s IT Industry Innovation Council.

Tom’s critically acclaimed travel memoir, Flashbacks from the Flow Zone was released in 2014. His second book Grand Crew is a novel about Australian wine. Both are published by Hardie Grant.

Tom is an energetic and articulate speaker with a rare mix of knowledge and management expertise.

Previous experience

Tom worked previously in media law at Minter Ellison and he has degrees in Arts, Law and International Business. He recently completed a PhD in art, videogames and philosophy, while his virtual reality art installation ‘Materials’ featured in the inaugural National Gallery of Victoria Triennial, and is now a part of the museum’s permanent collection. Tom has run companies in industries as diverse as health and fashion, owns restaurants in Australia and Japan, and once represented Australia in the sport of Athletics.
